What to Expect at Your Treatment
A typical treatment will begin
with questions about your health history and current complaints. It is
helpful if you can with you any reports, imaging studies, etc. that you
may have relating to your current condition. Since Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM) recognizes that all aspects of our lives have an
influence on our health, you can also expect questions about your
emotional well-being and lifestyle. We believe these components of your
life are an integral part of your health and should not be ignored. We
also gain valuable information from checking your pulse and looking at
your tongue. After gathering all of this information, a
diagnosis
and a corresponding treatment plan are made to correct the imbalance.
An acupuncture treatment starts
with the
insertion of needles. The needles are left in for about 20-30 minutes
while you rest. Sometimes an electric current or warming of the points
with moxa is used for greater stimulation. You may also be prescribed
an herbal formula and/or receive nutritional recommendations. Depending
on your condition you may also receive qi gong or
stretching/strengthening exercises.
